Today we are lucky enough to have some modern scientific testing procedures to complement and back up our traditional diagnostic methods. These tests help us to evaluate your current health status and provide us with insight into your health concerns.
Live blood analysis is a tool I use to complement my naturopathic consultations. Live blood analysis is exactly how it sounds- the process of examining the blood in real time under a high powered microscope. It is an enlightening test that is performed onsite in your consultation and the results are available immediately. By using only 1-2 drops of blood, we look at your blood and analyse the red blood cells for the size, shape and proportion of all cells that compose your blood. We study the strength and structure of the red and white blood cells, otherwise known as your immune cells, and the health of the plasma they exist in.
Live blood analysis is very different to any other blood test you may have had done through your doctor. Live blood analysis is more interested in the quality of the blood cells than the number. It is possible to have a normal number of blood cells but for them to be sick, poorly functioning cells, accompanied by a lot of acid and yeast. Healthy blood is vital to a healthy body as the blood is responsible for carrying nutrients and immune particles through the body.
A live blood analysis indicates a lot about your nutritional status and will clearly show the state of the blood in terms of:Live blood analysis allows us to see imbalances occurring in your blood, often much earlier than those revealed by standard tests. It helps us to discover changes in the blood associated with poor health before they start to manifest as chronic disease and tissue destruction. Regular live blood analysis allows us to monitor changes in your health and fine tune your prescriptions to ensure you are receiving the best treatment for your individual biochemical needs. As your treatment progresses, live blood analysis allows you to see the improvements in your blood as your health improves and healing begins to take place.
Cellular Health Analysis is a scientifically validated test that uses Bio-Impedance to accurately measure 6 of the key biological markers of aging. The test is straightforward, painless, and very accurate and takes only a couple of minutes. It works by passing a very small electrical current (which you cannot feel) into the body at the hands and feet and measures how much electricity is passed from the hand to the foot.
The BIA works with a software program which takes the machines readings and accurately calculates a range of body parameters including:
Cellular health analysis allows us to not only measure how much muscle you have but also the quality of muscle you have. The quality of your muscle is important as good quality muscle is an indicator of good nutritional status and improves your cellular energy production. From this simple test we can also gauge where your body fluid is distributed, whether it is inside or outside of your cells. Ideally you want a higher amount of fluid inside of your cells to ensure they are well hydrated and thus able to produce energy and detoxify themselves, clearing toxins form the cell.
Cellular Health Analysis is scientifically validated with over 2000 published studies citing its use. It is one of the best tools available to determine how well you are aging and is an invaluable tool for assessing weight loss and muscle mass.
The importance of regular BIA assessments whilst following a weight loss program should not be underestimated. Regular readings allow us to gauge your true progress, independent of what the scales are reading. A lot of weight loss programs initially work because you lose fluid, and over time your muscle tissue as well, rather than pure fat mass. Performing a BIA allows us to see if it really is fat you are losing and to monitor your muscle mass. Also when you are gaining in muscle, the scales may show no change or you may even become heavier as muscle weighs a lot more than fat. Again, having a BIA done will show us whether you have truly put on some fat or if you have gained some muscle.
The zinc taste test is another very simple and easy to perform test that your practitioner may request for you. It is a simple test involving a liquid solution being held in your mouth for around 10 seconds then swallowed. This test helps us to determine whether you have adequate levels of zinc in your body or not. Zinc is a very important nutrient and is essential for the production of normal cells, especially immune cells. Zinc deficiency is very common and can impede immunity and slow elimination of chemicals and toxins. Zinc is involved in numerous different enzyme functions in our bodies and deficiency can have a broad ranging effect on our health.
The urinary indican test is another procedure often employed by our practitioners. It is an accurate way of helping to assess gastrointestinal toxicity. The results of the test indicate to us any putrefaction of protein in the colon which indicates the level of bowel toxicity present.
Bowel toxicity can be caused by inefficient digestion of dietary protein, overgrowth of unfriendly bacteria, insufficient healthy gut flora, nutritional deficiencies, oral antibiotic use, stress, overeating, food sensitivities and intestinal damage to name a few. This test confirms or denies any presence of bowel toxicity which alerts us to assess and treat the cause of such bowel disturbances.
Conditions associated with bowel toxicity (elevated indicant results):
Identifying and addressing any imbalances in the health of your gastrointestinal tract is essential to the progress of your treatments. The gut is involved in the proper utilization of nutrients and any problems in the bowel can overtime cause a lot of symptoms and disturbances in other systems within your body. Any long-term progress will be hindered without addressing any disturbances in your digestive health. This is why assessing your gastrointestinal health and addressing any problems is a vital step on your journey towards better health.
I often employ the use of various screening tools such as questionnaires. Some are relatively short and concise whilst others can be quite in depth and lengthy. The purpose for these questionnaires is to gather as much information as we can in regards to your past and current health status, your lifestyle, your environment, toxins exposure, stress levels and the functioning of your organs and systems within your body. All of these factors have a potential role in determining your best possible treatment options as well as providing us with a greater understanding of the factors influencing your health potential.
Importantly though, by filling in such forms outside of your consultation time, we are able to spend more time discussing and explaining what is happening for you and the best ways we can then address your health concerns rather than spending a large portion of your consultation time gathering the information. This equates to better value for more for you as well as a greater understanding of the processes at work as I have more time to answer your questions and formulate an individual treatment plan for you.
Some of the questionnaires I employ relate to environmental factors, chemical toxins, electromagnetic stress, lifestyle, as well as general and comprehensive health assessments.
